Maternity Leave-Week 1&2

This first couple of weeks of maternity leave have been wonderful...and rough. As many of you probably know, sleepless nights are no fun, but somehow they seem far more manageable the second time around. Maybe it's the loss of unrealistic expectations. And, I think just knowing that this "season" is such a short one, and soon Grace will be a toddler squirming out of my arms, makes the wakeful nights cuddling with her a little sweeter.

We have been suffering from some serious cabin fever. We aren't used to staying home this much, but on the other hand, we still can't manage to get our act together enough to really do that much. Getting four people ready for anything takes a lot of effort. Today we got up (late after another sleepless night) and went to a park for a walk and to play. The sun was up, the weather was beautiful, and it was just what this house bound family needed. It was a really nice day!

Your blog continues to be foreshawdowing for me as I imagine life with 2!!! I hope you can get some rest soon and that nighttime begins to find some rhythm!

Does Isabelle still go to day care some days so that you get a small break or doe she stay home with you everyday? I was just wondering if you got even a small break during the day for some time to just sit and relax while the baby is sleeping or anything. I miss you guys and can't wait to see you soon. Probably on Thanksgiving. We love you.

Life with two is different than with just one! My mission with both kids was to get them to sleep through the night quickly - both did by 6 weeks.
I must chime in on what Jona said-- I sent Carlie to daycare a couple days a week after Luke came home. It does allow for a little bit of down time to sleep or take a shower!

Hi All, I just saw Oma at Aunt Sheila's. She was gushing over having held the baby for hours this morning, and precious Belle ruling the house. I would love to take a turn with both beauties. Maybe I can come to church in the morning...that would be sweet. Hope to see you. Love, Aunt Terri

Thankful that you are finding the joy in the hardship of transitioning with a new little one...
