Snot Bulb?

After our trip to India, Isabelle got her first this something you scrapbook a page about? Hmmmm...I think I'll pass, but she has been amazingly cooperative in spite of her cold, and this thing has hung on for some time. After a trip to the doctor last week (where he told us she now weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces...whoo hoo!) we confirmed what we thought, that there is nothing you can give a baby this small to help ease the pain of a cold. She's all congested and it wakes her up at all hours since she can't breathe. And I think Isabelle has a sensitive gag reflex cause she gags at the smallest thing! At first this concerned us now we kind of laugh (I know, we are cruel parents!) And all the phlem in her throat makes her gag! Poor kid. Besides the little snot bulb and saline water (which we use daily) I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to ease congestion in a baby?

Have you tried having her sleep in her swing or bouncy seat? That way she can keep the phlegm down and it won't clog her up.

Vaporizers are great things, too. They say not to use mentholatum anymore, but I think that's silly...not sure what the reason is. I use it for my kids when they are stuffed up.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
Glad she is doing so well! Sick or not...

I would also say try using a vaporizer esp. at night. Try propping the crib mattress up a bit by sticking blankets under it.

I enjoyed your tribute to RL and Katie as well. I feel the same way!

I had so much fun with Isabelle Friday (even though Oma and Opa were extremely jealous.) I can't wait to spend more time with her on Thanksgiving. I will have to send you the pics we took of Eric feeding her. Love you all.
